Full Length Interleukin 33 Aggravates Radiation-Induced Skin Reaction

The interleukin (IL)-1 family member IL-33 has been described as intracellular alarmin with broad roles in wound healing, skin inflammation but also autoimmunity. Its dichotomy between full length (fl) IL-33 and the mature (m) form of IL-33 and its release by necrosis is still not fully understood. Here, we compare functional consequences of both forms in the skin in vivo, and therefore generat...

Skin Reaction in Radiation Therapy for Breast Cancer

Introduction The first medical intervention for many breast cancer patients is breast conserving surgery (BCS) and/or modified radical mastectomy (MRM). Most of these patients undergo radiation therapy, following surgery. The most common side-effect of breast radiotherapy is skin damage. In the present study, the severity of acute skin changes and the underlying causes were investigated in pati...

Prasugrel-Induced Hypersensitivity Skin Reaction

We report a case of hypersensitivity skin reaction to prasugrel. The patient exhibited a generalized skin rash after treatment with prasugrel, which was resolved after discontinuation of prasugrel and substitution to clopidogrel. Clopidogrel was successfully administered as an alternative to prasugrel without any signs of further hypersensitivity.

Cloning of a full length cDNA encoding canine Interleukin-4.

Primer designed on the basis of the conserved transcription start point (tsp) region of human and bovine gene transcripts, encoding the Interleukin-4 (IL-4), and subsequently the gene specific primer and an adaptor primer pair, was successfully used, to generate the full-length complementary DNA (cDNA) sequence coding for canine IL-4 (cIL-4), from pokeweed mitogen stimulated canine peripheral b...

Exogenous interleukin-33 targets myeloid-derived suppressor cells and generates periphery-induced Foxp3⁺ regulatory T cells in skin-transplanted mice.

Interleukin-33 (IL-33) has been a focus of study because of its variety of functions shaping CD4(+) T-cell biology. In the present work, we evaluated the modulatory effect of IL-33 on suppressor cells in an in vivo transplantation model. C57BL/6 wild-type mice were grafted with syngeneic or allogeneic skin transplants and treated with exogenous IL-33 daily. After 10 days of treatment, we analys...
